PROJECT DESCRIPTION

A small front porch: we added a velux window for more light and used squint bricks so as not to catch yourself walking past. A radiator and plug socket were also fitted inside.

We cannot thank Simon and the whole team at SM Construction enough. Our requirements were quite demanding for a relatively small job. We had a very tight timescales, we were living in the property for the entire duration with 2 young children (ages 2 and 3, just that age where they try and get into everything), and finally a very tight budget. Simon and his team made sure they worked hours to suit us, and that everything was cleaned up every day for the children, not the easiest of tasks when you are having a chimney full of soot removed. However it was the little things that stood SM construction apart, always looking for the extra little bits to take the job up to the next level, and never settling for something that was just adequate. All of the guys really took pride in their work. When is came to costs, Simon really outdid himself, any extra work we wanted always had the price agreed before the work started, and more importantly was charged on a pro-rata basis from the original quote (so there really were no surprises on the final bill). If we have any more work to do in the future, then our first call will be to Simon, we will also recommend him to anybody who would like a friendly, honest and reliable builder.

A large internal project, which involved fitting steels and new drains to allow for a ground floor toilet. Andy and Kaz were still living in the property, which at first glance we thought may cause some problems. We all decided to work together and get the project completed as quickly and as easy as possible. It all went well and they were a pleasure to work with. Again they had many builders to quote, but some wouldn't even take the job as it was very complex and really needed expertise. Their home now looks amazing, and we are still good friends with Andy and Kaz and speak to them on a regular basis. We have also just booked a loft conversion from a close friend of theirs, so thanks for your referral.

We had S M Construction to build our two extensions, on the side and back of our bungalow. They were clean tidy and polite, and their work was outstanding. Roger and Betty, well what can we say they have been a model customer and we feel privileged to have completed their side and rear bungalow extension. They were pleasure to work for from start to finish. We totally refurbished their existing bungalow and built a very large rear exetnsion and a side garage extension. The works took 6 months to complete, and we were there from start to finish, we never had a day off which pleased Roger and Betty. It now looks amazing and is one of our largest projects to date.

We chose SM Construction after seeing examples of Simon’s workmanship and talking to very highly satisfied customers of his. This was a straight forward single storey rear extension, until we went around the back of the property and actually saw how dark the rear elevation was. After a few ideas and decisions and speaking to the local planning officer, we reached a decision to install 2 large velux windows which would be remote control operated and had rain censors included. The project is complete and looks amazing we have actually made it a featured item on our website under single storeys, as we were all extremely pleased with the outcome.

Simon and the rest of the guys were very friendly and always very professional. They were super clean and tidy throughout, always clear about the building plans and would explain any unexpected surprises in detail (of which there were a few) and the impact of these on the work. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This was a straight forward removal of a load bearing wall, to make a kitchen area larger and create a new dining room. The project took two weeks and included totally re-plastering the whole area. Again we took care of all building regulation and calcuations, taking a little pressure off our customer.

We decided to have a two storey extension a while ago but wasn’t sure whether we would get planning permission so we contacted Simon who recently built a extension for my sister in Dronfield. Simon came round and went through the process with us. He sorted out all the letter writing, drawings, forms to fill in and even paid the council fees and included it within our price. Tim and Ang required a two storey extension, and contacted us regarding this as they had called many builders but had no response and the ones that did contact them never turned up. They did actually have a builder call around, but the ideas he had were ludricous. We went to see Tim and Ang and went through their requirements. We decided to re-plan the whole project and start a fresh from the previous ideas they had with the other builder. We listened carefully to Tim and Ang, and had many meetings with them. After working together we came up with a wrap around extension which included a juliet balcony and tri-fold doors to the rear. The extension is now complete and looks amazing, and we are still good friends with Tim and Ang. We would like to thank them for their custom and they have told us we can visit them anytime to show our new customers a viewing if required.

I live alone with my 3 children and was finding it hard to choose a builder, as I knew nothing about building and trusting someone was hard for me. So I went on the internet and decided to call S M Construction. Simon came out on time and was so pleasant he even took me to speak to one of his other customers locally which put my mind at rest as they highly recommended his company. I even got a letter of appointment confirming our meeting. Simon listened to what I wanted and really did make it all about me and my house which was brill as I have ended up with the exact conversion that I wanted, and the finish was amazing from the build work to the plastering and skirting boards. They took care of all the plans and building regulations - I simply wrote them a cheque on completion, no money beforehand - I was shown all the insuarnace details as this was also important for me living alone. I now have a converted garage with a bedroom above and a music room downstairs for my son who plays the drums. We have more space and my house has considerably gone up in value. We first went to see Mrs Hodge after calling us and expressing how nervous she was about having building works undertaken. So before we went around to see her, we invited her to speak with some of our past and present customers to put her mind at rest. This she did and we went on to complete her garage conversion, making it into a music room with a bedroom upstairs - all meeting current building regulations. Another well done project that looks amazing and has added value to Mrs Hodges property.
